Things to Do in Fort Washington

 Make  the most of your visit to Fort Washington by exploring some of the  area’s natural beauty, rich history, and cultural charm.


🥾 Fort Washington State Park
Enjoy scenic hiking trails, shaded woodlands, and picturesque picnic  spots in this 493-acre state park. It’s the perfect place to unwind and  experience Pennsylvania’s natural beauty.


🌸 Highlands Mansion & Gardens
Tour a beautifully preserved 18th-century Georgian mansion and stroll  through formal gardens bursting with seasonal blooms. A peaceful,  elegant retreat for lovers of history and horticulture.


🏛 Hope Lodge
Step back in time with a visit to this historic 1740s home and  Revolutionary War encampment site. Walk the grounds where soldiers once  camped and explore the stories of the past.


🌿 Morris Arboretum
Located just a short drive away, this lush 92-acre garden is home to  thousands of plant species, whimsical sculptures, and interactive  exhibits — ideal for all ages and a must-see for nature lovers.


📜 Clifton House
Dive into Revolutionary War history at the Clifton House, which served  as quarters for several of George Washington’s officers in 1777. Learn  about its role in the Fort Washington encampment and the larger fight  for independence.

Visit Independence Hall, the birthplace of American democracy, where  both the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were debated  and signed.  Also check out the Liberty Bell - an enduring symbol of  freedom, the cracked bell once hung in Independence Hall and now draws  visitors from around the world.

🐘 Philadelphia Zoo
